Pylontech is probably the most familiar lithium battery name in South African homes. Its grey 19-inch rack modules, the US2000C, US3000C and US5000, have sat under Victron, Sunsynk, Deye, Solis and Axpert inverters since the worst years of load-shedding, and they still appear on quotes and second-hand listings every week. If you are searching for "Pylontech US3000" or "Pylontech US5000", you are probably either pricing a new battery or trying to work out what you already own.
The range has moved on. Pylontech's global website now lists the US5000, a new low-voltage Fidus family and the high-voltage Force H3 as its current home batteries, while the US2000C, US3000C, Force L1, Force L2 and Pelio no longer appear in its product listing. This review sets out what Pylontech publishes for each battery, how its South African warranty works, which inverters it lists as compatible, and the kind of home each battery suits. Everything comes from Pylontech's own datasheets, manuals, warranty and compatibility documents. We have not tested the batteries, and we have no commercial relationship with Pylontech.
Key takeaways
Pylontech is a Shanghai-based manufacturer. Its current home range on the global site is the US5000 (4.56kWh usable), the Fidus Battery (4.97kWh), Fidus Battery Plus (16.08kWh), Fidus Battery Max (20.07kWh) and the high-voltage Force H3.
The US2000C (2.28kWh usable) and US3000C (3.37kWh usable) are older models. Pylontech still publishes their manuals, but they are not named on its July 2026 low-voltage compatibility list.
Pylontech's South African US-series warranty is seven years, extended to ten years free if you register the battery online. We found no throughput limit in that document, which is unusual.
The warranty only applies if the battery is bought from an authorised reseller, installed indoors in South Africa, paired with a Pylontech-certified inverter and not mixed with other battery types.
The July 2026 compatibility list names Victron, Deye and the matching Sunsynk models, Solis, GoodWe, Growatt, Luxpower and Voltronic Axpert inverters, among many others.

Pylontech at a glance
Pylon Technologies Co., Ltd. is based in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park in Shanghai, according to its South African warranty document. Its company profile describes it as a dedicated energy storage provider that has delivered to more than 90 countries.
Pylontech does not run a South African website, and its warranty gives a Shanghai address and email for direct claims. In practice, you buy through a local distributor or installer, and the warranty only applies if that seller is an authorised Pylontech reseller in South Africa. Ask for proof before you pay, especially for a battery advertised well below the usual price.
The range in numbers
The table covers the batteries South Africans are most likely to meet: the two older rack modules, the current US5000, and the newer Fidus family. Figures come from the Pylontech US5000 datasheet (code EN-SD-250424), the Fidus Battery datasheet, the Fidus Battery Plus datasheet, and the installation manuals for the US2000C and US3000C.

The newest addition, the Fidus Battery Max (FB-L-20), lists 20.07kWh usable at 100% depth of discharge, 200A continuous, IP65, 155kg and a 10-year design life on its August 2026 datasheet.
Two notes on reading these numbers. First, every cycle-life figure is a laboratory result at 25°C, and the Fidus sheets say they are based on a 0.2C rate (roughly a five-hour charge or discharge). A real home cycles faster and warmer. Second, the Fidus Plus and Max figures assume 100% depth of discharge, but the datasheets add that the default lower limit is 5% and can be adjusted. Compare usable energy at the setting your installer will actually use.

Pylontech US3000C and US2000C
These are the batteries behind most "Pylontech US3000" searches. They are 48V, 19-inch rack modules that slide into a cabinet, up to 16 per battery group. Pylontech still publishes their installation manuals and certificates, so they are not orphaned products, but neither appears in the current product listing on Pylontech's global site.
The number that matters most is the recommended current. The US2000C is rated at 25A and the US3000C at 37A. At 48V, that is roughly 1.2kW and 1.8kW. This is our arithmetic, not a Pylontech figure. Both can deliver more for short periods, but a single US3000C asked to carry a kettle and a microwave through a 5kW inverter is working well above its recommended rate. That is why older installs usually stack two, three or four modules. Our guide to 48V lithium batteries explains how module count, current and voltage fit together.
Both are IP20 and charge only from 0°C. They belong indoors or in a protected cabinet.
Pylontech US5000
The US5000 is the module Pylontech still lists. It holds 4.8kWh, gives 4.56kWh usable at 95% depth of discharge, and is rated at 100A for normal charge and discharge, with 101A to 120A allowed for 15 minutes and up to 200A for 15 seconds. That makes a single US5000 a far more comfortable partner for a 5kW inverter than a single US3000C.
The current datasheet adds a wider charging range (from -10°C), RS485 and CAN communication, up to 20 modules in a single string and a 15-year design life at 25°C. It is still IP20, so it is an indoor product. One oddity: the current datasheet prints the nominal voltage as "8" where every other Pylontech document gives 48V. It is a typo, but it is a reminder to read the model label, not just a PDF.
Fidus, the newer low-voltage family
The Fidus Battery (FB-L-5.12) is Pylontech's new 5kWh-class module. Compared with the US5000, it is a 51.2V wall-mount battery with 97% usable capacity, an IP65 enclosure and a C5-M anti-corrosion rating, which Pylontech presents as suitable for harsher environments. It also lists more than 8,000 cycles. The Fidus Plus and Fidus Max are large floor-standing units of 16kWh and 20kWh, with a screen, Bluetooth and optional aerosol fire suppression.
We did not find a South Africa-specific warranty document for the Fidus family on 22 October 2026, so ask your seller for the exact terms before relying on a figure.
Force H3 and the older Force and Pelio models
The Force H3 is a high-voltage stackable battery. Each FH10050 module holds 5.12kWh, and stacks of two to seven modules give 9.69kWh to 34.01kWh usable, according to its datasheet. High-voltage batteries only work with high-voltage hybrid inverters, so a Force H3 is not a drop-in replacement for a rack of US3000Cs on a 48V inverter.
You may also see the Force L1, Force L2 and Pelio-L on older quotes. Pylontech still publishes manuals, certificates and warranty documents for them, but they no longer appear in its product listing. The Pelio manual lists the Pelio-L-5.12 as a 51.2V, IP65 wall battery with 4.864kWh usable and an 80A recommended current.
The Pylontech warranty in South Africa
Pylontech publishes a South African consumer warranty for the US series (version 1.2, reference SA22WUSS100302). It covers the US2000, US3000, US2000C, US3000C, US5000 and US5000-B, and it is governed by South African law.
Seven years as standard. The product warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials for seven years.
Ten years free if you register. Registering the battery on Pylontech's website extends the warranty to ten years. The trade-off is that the minimum capacity at the end of the term drops from 70% to 60% of nominal energy.
Start date. The warranty starts on the installation date or six months after manufacture, whichever is earlier. A module that sat in a warehouse has already used part of its term.
No throughput limit in this document. Unlike the Dyness and many other battery warranties we have read, the South African US-series terms do not set a megawatt-hour cap. They do say the battery must be used on a daily cycle basis and only for energy storage.

After free online registration10 years

The longer term is the reason to register at commissioning. Our Dyness battery review shows how a throughput cap can end a "10-year" capacity guarantee early, and our guide to lithium battery lifespan and cycles explains how cycle, throughput and calendar limits interact.
Conditions every buyer should know
The warranty only applies if the battery:
was bought from Pylontech or an authorised reseller in South Africa;
carries an official Pylontech serial number;
is installed indoors in South Africa;
is installed, operated and maintained according to Pylontech's instructions; and
is used for energy storage on a daily cycle basis.
The exclusions are worth reading too. Pylontech excludes damage where the battery was installed with an inverter or charger it has not certified, where storage, installation or repair was done by someone other than Pylontech or a Pylontech-certified installer, where the battery was connected to a different type of battery module or to a non-Pylontech battery, and where it was moved to a new address without written confirmation.
Two practical points follow. Mixing is a warranty risk. Adding a US5000 to an old rack of US3000Cs is a common upgrade, and the "different type battery modules" exclusion is the clause to raise with your installer first. Act fast on faults. The terms ask you to notify Pylontech within 48 hours of discovering a defect, and to provide the invoice, the warranty declaration and the battery's log data.
Pylontech also publishes separate warranty documents for the Force L1 and L2 and the Pelio series, but on 22 October 2026 we found only European, Australian, American and "standard" versions of those, not South African ones.
Inverter compatibility
Pylontech's low-voltage compatibility list (version 2.46, last updated 7 July 2026) covers the US3000D, US5000, US5000B, UP5000D, UF5000, Pelio-L and the Fidus FB-L-5.12, FB-L-16 and FB-L-20. The inverters it lists include:
Victron MultiPlus and Quattro 48V (through Venus OS)
Deye, with the matching Sunsynk models shown alongside: SUN-SG01LP1, SG03LP1, SG04LP1, SG04LP3, SG05LP3 and OG02LP1 series
Solis S5 and S6 low-voltage hybrids, including the S6-EH1P-L and S6-EH1P-L-PLUS
GoodWe BP/SBP, ES/ES-C10 and EM
Growatt SPF 5000 ES, SPF 6000 ES Plus and SPH 3000 to 6000
Luxpower LXP 3-6K hybrid, SNA series and LXP-LB-EU
Voltronic Axpert and Infinisolar 48V series
SMA Sunny Island, Schneider Conext XW Pro, Studer and many other brands
GoodWe's own battery compatibility overview (dated 10 September 2026) also approves the US2000, US3000, US2000C, US3000C, Force L1 and Force L2 for its ES G2 inverter, and the US5000 for the ES G2 and SBP G2.
Three cautions:
The older modules are not on Pylontech's current list. The US2000C and US3000C do not appear in the battery column of the July 2026 list. That does not mean they stopped working with the inverters they were sold with, but the warranty excludes uncertified inverters. If you are adding or replacing an inverter, get written confirmation for your exact module.
Firmware matters. Many lines on the list carry a minimum inverter firmware version. Ask the installer to check it at commissioning.
Some pairings have limits. For example, the list says the Pelio-L and UF5000 are not compatible with GoodWe's ES/ES-C10, and that Growatt SPF and M series should be set to 80% depth of discharge or less.
High-voltage batteries such as the Force H3 have their own high-voltage list (last updated 26 August 2026), which names GoodWe, Solis, Deye and Sunsynk, SMA and Sungrow high-voltage inverters.
Who Pylontech batteries suit
Good fit
Homes with a listed 48V inverter. If your Victron, Deye, Sunsynk, Solis, GoodWe, Growatt or Luxpower model is on the July 2026 list, compatibility is documented by the manufacturer.
Owners who want a simple warranty. Seven years, or ten after free registration, with no throughput cap in the South African US-series terms.
Rack-mounted systems that need to grow. The US5000 allows up to 20 modules in a string, and a cabinet keeps a large bank tidy.
Sheltered outdoor or garage positions. Only with the IP65 Fidus or Pelio, not the IP20 US series, and only once the seller confirms the warranty terms for that model. Heat still shortens battery life.
Think twice if
You plan to mix old and new modules. The warranty excludes connecting different battery module types. Get written approval or replace the bank as a set.
You want the battery outdoors. The South African US-series warranty requires an indoor installation.
Your seller cannot show they are authorised. The warranty depends on it.
You need high power from one module. A single US2000C or US3000C has a low recommended current. Size the bank to your inverter's continuous load.
You want a locally made battery. Pylontech is a Chinese manufacturer. Our home battery buyer's guide links reviews of other brands, including a South African manufacturer.

Getting a quote through SolarGuide
SolarGuide is an independent referral partner. Alumo supplies, installs, finances and warrants the systems we refer. Alumo's advertised home packages are built around Eenovance batteries rather than Pylontech, so a quote through us will compare a battery from Alumo's range against your needs. If you already have Pylontech modules and want to add solar or replace an inverter, share the model and serial numbers when you ask for a quote so compatibility can be checked first.
Pylontech is one of the longest-established lithium battery brands in South African homes, with detailed datasheets, a broad model-by-model inverter list and a South African warranty of seven years, or ten with free registration. Whether a module suits you depends on your inverter being listed, the installation spot and how much power you need from each module.
What is the difference between the Pylontech US3000C and US5000?
The US3000C holds 3.552kWh, gives 3.374kWh usable and is rated at 37A recommended current. The US5000 holds 4.8kWh, gives 4.56kWh usable and is rated at 100A. The US5000 is the current model on Pylontech's site and is on the July 2026 compatibility list. The US3000C is not.
What is the Pylontech warranty in South Africa?
Pylontech's South African US-series warranty is seven years from installation, or six months after manufacture if earlier. Registering the battery on Pylontech's website extends it to ten years, with at least 60% of nominal capacity at the end. The battery must be bought from an authorised reseller, installed indoors and paired with a certified inverter.
Does Pylontech work with Sunsynk inverters?
Pylontech's low-voltage list dated 7 July 2026 shows Deye models with the matching Sunsynk models alongside, including the SUN-SG01LP1, SG03LP1, SG04LP1, SG04LP3 and SG05LP3 series. Confirm your exact inverter model and firmware, and remember the older US2000C and US3000C are not named on that list.
Is SolarGuide the installer?
No. SolarGuide is an independent referral partner. Alumo supplies, installs, finances and warrants the systems. We help you compare options and get a free quote. Alumo's advertised home packages do not use Pylontech batteries, and we have no commercial relationship with Pylontech. All pricing is indicative and subject to a site assessment and credit approval.
